The diversity-related categories in this Toolbox are derived from the HEAD Wheel (short for Higher Education Awareness for Diversity). It was designed to serve as a frame of reference for a holistic diversity management that embraces five interconnected diversity segments (demographic, cognitive, disciplinary, functional and institutional diversity). Here, we focus on the demographic diversity aspects. In reality, our identities are often intersectional and dynamic, thus many of these aspects are intertwined and drawn upon depending on the context and situation.
